Job Boarders

Switching Job Board Technology and to host or not to host....

Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone could give me advice about the likelihood of switching technology from one job board (which we license what we call a white label) to another? As I am not too technical I am seeking advice.

If the site is established what kind of work is involved in kind of unplugging from one platform into another and is this possible. My ideal situation would be to host it ourselves so is this a huge expense.

Additionally, does anyone know of any organisations we could outsource the sales and support function? We are an Australian niche job board.

Regards
Michael

Michael, no job board software company will do your 'sales', thats up to you. Jobtarget for example will handle support and host your site but you have to market it.

Sounds like you could use my advice. I offer hourly consulting to job board owners. $99. email me chris (at) allcountyjobs dot com
Thank you for your reply Chris. We currently have outsourced our sales and support to a software/tech company hence my question if anyone knew of any others. I will wait to see what other advice I receive before embarking on a consultation fee arrangement.

Hi Michael

I represent a leading job board development company. The Strategies Group, which provide high end, hosted, managed job board technology to over 200 clients both in the UK and internationally. We are able to arrange data migration from another providers platform to ours so long as the current provider will work with us.

As for organisations that you can outsource the sales and support function to this is usually taken up by media publishing companies. We have been building job boards for leading publishing organisations for over a decade and have contacts within the industry who may be able to help you.

If you need any further information please do not hesitate to contact me.

Kind Regards

Hi Darren,

Thank you for your reply and I would like to explore this a little further. The site I am referring to is our own www.recruitmenow.com.au and we have had a white label since inception 2008. My preference is to host ourselves and/or outsource the entire functionality like to your second suggestion.

Hi Michael

Unfortunately we do not allow our system to be hosted on external servers. We offer a fully managed/hosted solution that we license to you on an ongoing monthly basis.

Please feel free to contact me at dcurtis@strategies.co.uk with any questions you may have.

Hi Micheael

I hope you are well...I have not spoken to you in ages. Feel free to call me...0405 715 823

This is the only problem with "Renting" your core business functions. There really is only one way....build!

The best thing I can suggest is "Partnering" with a web company and giving them a % for development and marketing. We recently did this...and it has made all the difference but it does take time.

The only thing I can say is technology is getting better and I would not worry too much about what others are coming up with.

A good site has good fundamentals..and people know the difference.

Maybe we can work something out.

Andrew
