Start a Social Job Board

Hey all,

I gave a bit of a hint about what we're up to on previous JobBoarders post and got a bunch of interest. We're ready to share a bit more to see if there's anyone else here interested.

I'm looking for entrepreneurial people with big networks and experience with job boards to partner up with us to launch your very own social job board. Your brand, your vision, and you make money off of it. Takes < 5 minutes to setup, is completely free, and includes all the… Continue

AD Sales on Website

Does anyone have a recommendation on a firm to do Advertising sales for our website? Not looking for them to sell job postings but rather advertisments on the site. Ideally people with relationships in the financial services arena or high end goods.

Thanks.

Review of your job board

Hi Jobboarders,

I run a niche job board and I also run a career blog . Each week in my blog, I focus on a specific niche job board and write a review for my readers. Not that I have run out of material (with over 100,000 job boards) but I figured it would make sense to review some fellow jobboarders' sites. If you are interested, simply drop me a PM with your site url and maybe a couple of salient features that you think sets your board… Continue

Social Networking Component in New Niche Job Board?

Hi- I just jointed Jobboarders and am glad to have found a community of fellow job board owners/workers.

I had one question that I've been thinking about and would be interested in hearing what others think:

If you were to start a new niche job board today would you have a social networking component built in? The upsides are clear: increased interaction among users and potentially higher traffic for your job board. Or does it make more sense to create two sites- a job… Continue

Google SERP changes

As many job board people know, big changes have been occurring in the Google search results over the past couple of months. Yesterday Google announced improved search refinements -

"Starting today, we're deploying a new technology that can better understand associations and concepts related to your search, and one of its first applications lets us offer you even more useful related searches (the terms found at the bottom, and sometimes at the top, of the search results… Continue

MAKE VISITORS LINGER ON YOUR JOB POST:

Do you know what your past employer tells potential employers? Do you know what criteria HR employed before they hired you? Why does IBM use handwriting analysis to screen applicants? Why did Amex hire Private Detectives to start false rumors that a former executive sold drugs? Why do Job Boards post the same, tired stories about positive attitudes, polished resumes and more education?

It's a dangerous world out there and applicants want to know how to avoid the minefields. There are… Continue

Integrating Facebook Connect with your Job Board

Facebook Connect is part of the sites API platform released late last year. With Facebook the number 1 social networking site in the world, who wouldn't want to leverage off the success of this site?

Facebook Connect allows users to:

* Seamlessly connect their Facebook account and information with your site (increase users/signup on your website)

* Connect and find their friends who also use your site (provide a social aspect - friends invite friends)

What is an API

ou may have heard the acronym "API" before, so what is it, and how it is used in recruitment. An application programming interface (API) is a set of programming instructions and standards for accessing a Web-based software application or tools. Software providers can release their own API to developers/clients/users, so they can develop and design products powered by the remote service.

An API is a software-to-software interface - NOT a user interface. With APIs, applications talk to… Continue

Job Searching via Twitter

Job searching has evolved from newspapers to job boards, and now evolving from job boards into social networking sites including Twitter. Job seekers can use this medium thanks to new content aggregation sites such as TwitterJobSearch, HashJobs and various other sites.

When users post a tweet, they can add a hash tag with more information. These hash tags can be used by the Twitter Search to search for content. Hash tags relating to jobs include: #job, #jobpost, #naj (need A Job?),… Continue

businessanalystjobs .com for sale (floating in top 3 on yahoo.com)

I Have now decided to sell my project "businessanalystjobs .com". It has a finished bespoke job board online (went live almost 3 weeks ago) and is floating around the top 3 in yahoo.com for "business analyst jobs", a keyword that gets around 100,000 searches per mth on Google. I am in the UK and it would be tough for me to market it in the US. I have just been offered a full time job and wouldn't have the time or the means. Offers around $10k. Massive potential.

Advice on new Niche Board

This is my first post so i would like to say thanks to the chaps behind this website and also "Hi" to all the members. I have recently been made redundant after several years working in the recruitment industry and in many ways i wasn't too upset as the pace of work had burnt me out somewhat. I decided to investigate the possibility of starting a niche job board, saw what looked like a potential opening and after getting some advice, went ahead with a project. The niche I have targeted is… Continue

Whats a job board worth?

Everyone was predicting that we'd see some acquisitions this year due to the economy. But the economy has had the opposite effect. Companies are hoarding cash and probably waiting for the weakest to die off before moving in.

But I wanted to propose an experiment for you all to take part in. Lets create a fictional job board and find out how you put a value on it.

First I have 2 key questions for you to answer.

1. Should a job board be valued based on a… Continue

Employment During a Recession?

It seems the news is the same every day “Recession!” “Poor economy!” “Stock Market down!” But what can you do to make lemon-aid out of lemons during these turbulent times? Especially in regard to employment?

First let’s look at it from the employer’s perspective:

During economic good times, the best performers are quickly snapped up by those “employers of choice” who can pay higher salaries and which then command their… Continue
