We are selling four fully developed boards that we will no longer be pushing. The sale includes a permenant license for our proprietary job board software, the domain, database, and mailing lists.
The boards are:
EnvironmentalHealthandSafetyJobs.com
InfrastructureJobsUSA.com
AllWasteJobs.com
ArchitectandPlannerJobs.com
The sites are basically static right now and can be sold individually or together. We have not been pushing them due to a decision…

Making the candidate conform to your recruitment systems filename structure is stupid. Technology is used to improve the application process - not complicate it.
Earlier this week I had a call from an Employer who just implemented a new online recruitment system... "Thomas what do you think of our new recruitment system" [silence] "great isn't it".
Hello? We are nearly in 2010. This should not be happening.
Original blog post…

An HR blogger said something interesting in a
recent job boards-are-dying type post: "
We will be job board free in 2 years." In a follow-up post to explain how this would occur, this anonymous blogger says (problem areas in red):
"When you need something, you go to Google, so why not use it to find a job? Simply enter your criteria, say sales…

What do you do?
While these two questions are very different, we are sometimes (unfortunately) more clearly defined by what we do. Deep thoughts, indeed, as it is not always so easy to recognize that the inner you might be very different than the you you present to the world. Knowing how to manage you can be an elusive task, full of introspection along with some sweet…

In the spirit of the season, I thought it would be worthwhile to give some thanks (sometimes you forget about it in the midst of everything else). So, in no particular order, here are a few things that I’m particularly thankful for this year:
*
You: Seriously. I appreciate the time you spend reading this blog. I hope you find it worthwhile.
*
Monster: It’s very useful for our industry to have a ‘big’ company to kick around. Plus it keeps the target off everyone…

As the Australian job market continues to outperform by adding 24,500 new jobs in October, instead of the expected 10,000 jobs, Prime Minister Rudd, and the Labor Government have something to celebrate about on their 2-year anniversary.
We expect job growth to continue in the long-term. Project such as Gorgon in Western Australia will continue to increase the number of jobs. According to the ACIL Tasman report, an additional 10,000 direct and indirect jobs are on the horizon,…

College recruiting activity will likely continue to decline over the next three months, according to results of a new survey.
The National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) recently instituted a monthly poll of its employer members to gauge the college job market on an on-going basis. The first poll was conducted October 3 - November 2and represents expectations over a three-month period (October through December).
Results are…

A few days back, we ran a discussion on several social networking platforms to reach out to the recruiting community and asked them if recruiters should develop their own assessment tools or hire the services of assessment specialists. A strong majority shared the same idea – focus on what you do best i.e. understand the client’s needs, pool in candidates, perform pre-screening to generate qualified leads etc. and allow specialists to take care of the…

When was the last time you asked your job board customers what they want? Not just a one-off question to a few clients – but an systematic, organized survey of everyone who uses your site? Employers and job seekers?
A recurrent theme in the ‘job boards are dying’ blog posts that I see is a feeling by recruiters, employers, and job seekers that the ‘big boards’ are out of touch. In other words, they don’t know what their customers want. Now, I’m guessing that they would argue with…

I once was the darling of the recruitment agencies – then I found instead of the wanted one I became the discarded one – why?
Changes can sneak up on us and it’s a hard wake up call when you realise that what used to work so well no longer does.
What had changed was that instead of a human being I had become a commodity. Prospective employers were not interested in my potential as a member of their team they wanted hard evidence that I was a direct replacement for the guy…

We've just been through a brutal economic storm. If you were sheltered, great - good for you.
But pay attention anyway, because this storm wreaked havoc on many of the people you'll meet in the next stages of your career. You are going to meet and work with a lot of people who've been burned. So many that the American business landscape is never going to look the same again.
At the height of the crisis, large companies fired thousands of employees to preserve profits. In many…

Let’s face it recruitment agencies are here to stay. How can we manage the love/hate relationship between agencies and candidates? As a candidate you need to wise up to some conflicts of interest that are doomed to arise between you and your agent.
But first let’s understand the job market. We’ve all become lazy and fallen down the path of least resistance.
Frustrated jobseekers assume that all it takes to land that perfect job is to blast as many résumés as possible over…

Are you starting to make money in recruitment again? I don’t mean the nickels and dimes, I mean are you starting to make some serious money that you made earlier in this decade? If not then, maybe you should see how to reposition yourself. The first thing you should do when repositioning yourself is understand where the economy is heading and what the economy will demand in the coming quarters. One of the best resources for recruiters who want to…

Nice move here by SH to add more functionality and customization to the
