Job boards get some respect in new survey

Hmmm, turns out social recruiting sucks and us job boards rule the world.

http://www.tlnt.com/2011/12/21/bersin-survey-even-in-the-social-media-age-job-boards-drive-new-hires/

Where social media sources register a barely discernible 1 percent of all hires, job boards produced 19 percent. That was matched only by internal transfers; even…

What recruiters want from a job board

Although I was late to the IAEWS congress last week I did catch the session where a recruiter from a healthcare staffing form talked about what they look for when selecting a job board. I thought I would summarize for you so you can get an idea of what to expect.

1. Recruiters dont believe your hype. Most recruiters are skeptical of job sites in general so dont oversell yourself.

2. In addition to job postings they want targeted branding and…

Your design counts

Just a friendly reminder from your neighborhood job board consultant.

I've seen lots of poorly designed job boards over the years. Bad logos, poor color choices and too many inconsistencies have contributed to many a downfall.

Make no mistake, the design of your job board...its look and feel... is a prime indicator of its potential success or failure.

So you must invest in good graphic design, consistent and intuitive…

Whats up with Google and job boards?

The recent google panda updates have rocked the job board world. I have heard from may owners that their sites have taken a hit. Sites are moving up and down in rankings week after week and some have been hit with huge penalties.  Word is all the back links you've built up over the years have been discredited, meaning you need to start getting new ones.

Its seems Google is getting Schizophrenic.

ManyJobamatic powered sites practically disappeared from…

Job Board Insider: Spring 2011

I just returned from the IAEWS congress in San Diego. It was my first trip to the west coast event and many of the usual suspects were there in addition to a few new ones. Even Cheezhead (Joel Cheesman) showed up with his Jobing.com entourage. Meeting my fellow colleagues is always the best part about these events.

The highlight of the day was definitely the recruiter panel hosted by Laurie Reuttiman. She moderated a discussion with 3…
