Indeed is removing all free sites from the organic search results

I just got an email today from Indeed saying:


I have been notified by my QA team that your site no longer meets our requirements for organic listings for the following reason:


• All sites must be pay to post. Your site is free to post.


As a result, Indeed has removed your organic job listings from our site.  We have a high set of standards for our free organic listings and our QA team is very stringent with the requirements.


Lastly, you are still able to sponsor jobs and we can continue to work with you on your campaigns.  Feel free to let me know if you have any questions.


The only QA issue with my site is that it is free. I've been on Indeed for two years now with no issues.


Anyone have any thoughts?

Strongly disagree that "Indeed is on the path to oblivion," Robert. We've partnered with them for years for back fill and buying traffic and they've been exceptionally good to work with.

I'm blowing having Indeed on our Ning site. I'm sorry, but I have no clue what you're trying to tell me other than you think that what we're doing is wrong. You're entitled to your opinion, but how about backing it up with some facts?

It sounds like to me you have a bone to pick with Indeed. I agree with Steven unless you have some hard data to back up your comments I would be careful about what your are claiming especially in this forum. I know for a fact of many successful partnerships with Indeed, myself included. I would hardly say they are on a path to oblivion, quite the opposite I believe.

I cannot understand the choices Indeed makes lately.

Not only they refuse to index free postings, they also refuse including into their organic results postings made by paying users.

Even more: they refuse to take hundreds of dollars per month that I offer for that.

I wish I could understand what all that means.

If this could cut down duplicate job postings, its a good direction for them.

If you have no job postings -- then obviously you would have no duplicate postings.

The primary goal for job aggregator should be to have the widest selection of jobs.

Eliminating duplicates is a secondary goal.

I'm definitely trying:

1) Job postings quality control -- done.

2) Paid postings only in the feed to Indeed -- done.

3) Pay for sponsored campaigns -- done.

Got back nothing meaningful except vague "out quality team is firm about their decision".

The was no single specific example of bad posting.


What else can I do?

I retract my statement about the use of this forum to share and learn. Yes this is definitely the right venue to discuss these issues. On that note I have worked with both Indeed and Simplyhired for the past couple of years both as a publisher and advertiser. There are certainly pros and cons to working with both. Hope this works out for you.
