Jeff;
I was looking at your virtual careerfair demo. It looks great! I own a jobboard in the medical job arena. Can you tell me who I would talk to about the virtual careerfair software that BrokerHunter is using? I look forward to hearing from you. Laura Fitzsimmons, DocCafe.com

For July total non-farm payrolls grew by 92,000 - lower than the consensus number of about 135,000; while the jobless rate inched upward by 1/10% to its highest reading since January of this year. Some economists speculated that the report indicates a slowing economy and that interest rates may be lowered sooner, rather than later, as a result. Tightening credit may also factor into future Fed thinking on rates, which have held steady at 5.25% for over a year.
Some notable week spots were seen in government hiring which contracted by 28,000. In fact, most of the overall weakness in July was due to the public sector.
The decrease in non-farm payrolls last month was concentrated in the goods-producing sector. Construction jobs declined by 12,000 - mostly due to the housing slowdown.
Securities Industry Employment Trends
Last month - after setting a new all time record high for employment in our industry - we follow up with another new record in July!
This is in spite of the expected downward revision to the June numbers which took us backwards a step or two; but was followed up with strong growth in July, taking us to a total employment number of 850,000. This was especially notable in light of the weak overall report.
So far, 2007 has been an outstanding employment year with nearly 22,000 new jobs created for our sector - translating to an annualized growth rate of about 6% - levels not seen since the "pre-bubble" years of 2000 and earlier when 8 or 9% growth seemed the norm.
