Jobster Raises Another $7M From Insiders

It was announced today that Jobster raised another $7M in VC funding from existing investors including Ignition Partners, Mayfield Fund, Reed Elsevier Ventures, and Trinity Ventures. The funding brings the total amount of venture capital invested in the company to a whopping $55M, $18M of which was raised in 2006. No information was released about valuation, but I have to imagine that it was either a flat round or maybe even a down round. Either way, the company has extended its runway and bough… Continue

Nick Goes On A Rant; Newspapers Struggle To Capture Local Ads; FCC Tries To Aid The Dailies

Nick Corcodilos, in his column Ask The Headhunter, went off on a tirade in his post today, ripping job seekers who believe themselves to be too cool to work for sleepy companies that ‘don’t get it’ - it being new technology, social media, the web, etc. It’s a pretty legitimate rant and well worth the read for jobseekers and employers alike.… Continue

Classified Ad Company Edgeio Shuts Down & Blames Investors

Edgeio announced late last week that it was ceasing operations and looking to liquidate its assets. The company, which had recently raised $6M in capital ($3M of which came from Intel), tried to build a business by aggregating classified listings from all over the web. In explaining the reasons why the business was unsuccessful, CEO Keith Teare stated, “I would say it came down to lack of vision on the part of investors to see the platform as part of the future.” The arrogance and absurdity of T… Continue

LinkUp Aims To Be The Best Job Site On The Web

linkup_logo.jpg

Over the past year or so in writing this blog, I’ve tried not to promote our company too heavily, focusing instead on the industry we’re in, the market(s) we serve, the competitors we face, and the evolution of products and services that help connect job seekers and employers. I realize that highlighting the demise of daily newspapers, for example, is still self-ser…

Scott Adams’ Take On The Future Of Daily Newspapers

In his blog Dilbert.Blog, Scott Adams offers his predictions about the future of the daily newspapers. As is the case with a lot of what Adams blogs about, his comments are thoughtful and interesting. I especially agree with him that the future of newspapers will entail a greatly expanded relationship with local bloggers who provide a wide range of content for syndication in the daily ne…

Hi Toby,
I saw you on the JobBoarders page. I took a look at JobDig, and want to get your board onto the new OneClick job board aggregation platform that JobTarget has created in conjunction with SHRM.

Here’s how the OneClick program works. JobTarget has designed the OneClick platform to provide employers with a simplified way to explore, choose and purchase job postings to various job boards. As mentioned, we currently power almost 1000 boards, so they are automatically included in this program. We are also looking to add a variety of niche specific sites. There is no cost to your organization to participate in this program, and JobTarget and its sales and marketing partners earn commission solely on successfully posting jobs to your board.

Why employers will use it:
43% of employers post to an average of 11 job boards when seeking to hire the right candidate. OneClick will allow them to more easily find the right job boards, and will allow them to purchase and post to all that they choose with one transaction. And, as SHRM has endorsed OneClick, and will be marketing its own version of the OneClick platform to its 200,000+ HR professionals. That means that OneClick will be in front of a large group of the very people that would be most likely to use it on a regular basis.

Why OneClick partnership is good for you and your niche job board:
• FREE marketing/exposure
• Incremental Income opportunity – OneClick targets the single job posting employer, who may not necessarily have considered your board in the past.
• Reach the small/medium sized business market, in addition to the larger employers

Here is a link to the OneClick Website.
